July 2018 Student of the Month
Meet Anthony Rochon, age 27. He currently holds his Private Pilot and hails from California.

What point in your life did you know you wanted to fly helicopters?

Woke up one morning and just knew. Helicopters are the puzzle’s missing piece!  I cannot wait to take a step back after putting it all together for a glimpse at the big picture.

What is your favorite helicopter to fly?

All of them.
Has it got a main and secondary rotor system? Very good. I want in.

What obstacles have you had to overcome to get where you are today?

The sticker price on what I love is certainly the most easily identifiable hurdle, especially because this venture is privately funded. Yet where the will is strong, one can find the energy and courage to persevere through any challenge.

Where do you hope your training will take you? Goals?

If it’s showing an enthusiastic somebody how to fly or aid in dousing out a fire, certainly hope this training can be used to help people. The aim is to discover the world and a helicopter flight may be the only transportation available in remote locations.

What advice would you give to people just starting out in there training?

Welcome aboard! Here is my contact information and if you have any questions or just want a friendly face to conversate with, let’s make some time:]

What has been your favorite experience while flying with MLH?

The community.
Staff to fellow students, by far the best group I’ve encountered. Never been among so many unique eccentrics with such diverse backgrounds; a true mosaic that complements and foreshadows aviation’s international trajectory.

How did you pick MLH?

Made the decision to move to Hawaii beginning this year.

Puzzle still in mind, the timing was exceptional and what a blessing the nation’s best helicopter school has locations on the island state?!

Whats your favorite thing about flying in Hawaii/ at MLH?

In short: celebrating personal milestones and honoring others in their achievements, enjoying the rare opportunities that is Hawaii 2018 (aerial nighttime lava viewing, charting an 80 nm leg across the Pacific, weathering the hurricane, et cetera), living in a place folks take the time to visit, musing over the inevitable future the firmament, the waters above, and I have together
