Tour Pilot, Blue Hawaiian Helicopter
Hawaii
Who are you flying for currently?
I am a Tour Pilot at Blue Hawaiian Helicopter in Hawaii
Where are you flying and for what company?
I’m flying for Blue Hawaiian Helicopter on the island of Kauai.
What kind of helicopter(s) do you fly?
I fly the EC130 T2 and B4.
Tell us about your career path.
My carrier path is simple. Stay right here. Blue Hawaiian takes care of there aircraft and pilots and safety always come first. If I had to leave Blue I would make a lateral move in the Air Methods company, perhaps the EMS side of things.
What do you find unique, challenging, or fulfilling about your job?

Most unique thing about my job are the different passengers that I have the pleasure of meeting from around the world. Most challenging is juggling all tasks of being a tour pilot from flying, cockpit management, working the 4 different HD cameras, playing appropriate music at appropriate times, ever changing environment from weather to terrain. Let’s not forget the narration with constant Q and A’s. Most fulfilling part of my job. I have the opportunity to introduce people from around the world to the beautiful island of Kauai.

Do you have any other comments or suggestions for those just beginning in the industry?
Never forget when you started. Always look back and remember the hard work you put into your training. Most importantly be humble although this is a fun, exciting carrier field it’s extremely dangerous so never let you guard down for one second you are not a rock star. You are a professional aviator so never stop learning. You can never get enough of limitations, emergency procedures and yes the FAR’s.
