While attending the Waimea Middle School Career Exploration Day on November 6th, 2019, two extraordinary classes from Waimea Elementary School was able to come and see the school’s R66 and meet our two Assistant Chief Pilots Paige Groff and Kaj Loken-Kim. Mrs. Souza’s Third-grade class and Mrs. Shaw’s first-grade class were able to climb in and sit while asking questions about becoming a pilot and flying. Then the two classes were able to watch as the aircraft departed to head back to Kona. A few of these students had never been close to a helicopter, let alone be able to sit in one. The gratification our pilots come home with after being able to provide opportunities like this one is unmeasurable. Thank you to Tania, the PCNC at Waimea Elementary, for coordinating this special moment for us.
