Mauna Loa Helicopters would like to congratulate Jack Spellman on being promoted to Saftey Advisor, here is a little able Jack. We are all looking forward to working with him!
Shortly after earning a degree in Architecture from the University of Michigan, Jack decided to make a complete 180 in life and moved to Hawaii to pursue a life of helicopter flying. After completing Mauna Loa’s Professional Pilot Program, Jack began working for the school that taught him as a flight instructor. Five months into his time here, Jack decided he wanted to increase his role within the company while striving to make a lasting impact on Aviation Safety and assumed the position of Safety Advisor.
It is no secret, Jack believes, that the helicopter industry has come under scrutiny in the past year or so, and the public’s confidence in and perception of helicopters may be beginning to wane. Flight schools are the ones putting people in helicopters and shaping the pilots of the future, and positive industry change starts here. When it comes to safety, prudent aeronautical decisions need to be made first on the ground, not in the sky. Helping the company to refine its safety policy, generate new pathways for safety assurance, evaluate risk, and promote its strong culture of safety is what keeps Jack engaged as Mauna Loa’s Safety Advisor.
