Who are you flying for currently?
I am a Pilot at Paradise Helicopters in Big Island, Hawaii
Where are you flying and for what company?
I attended Mauna Loa Helicopters as a student from 2016 to 2018. I graduated from the program in April of 2018. I was a CFI for MLH from 2018-2021. During that time I was also one of the 141 Assistant chief pilots as well as the lead 135 tour pilot on the big island.
What ratings do you hold?
Private, Commercial, CFI, IFR, and CFII
What type of work are you doing now?
My work consists mostly of tours, however, we do lots of different operations. I have also flown specialty charter flights, photo flights, as well as utility flights.
What kind of helicopter(s) do you fly?
I mostly fly the Bell 407, but I also fly the MD500.
What do you find unique, challenging, or fulfilling about your job?
Each day I face new challenges, that consists of either maintenance issues, bad weather or even interesting guest. But I would have to say the hardest challenge I face on a daily basis is the weather. Especially over the volcano.
What other positions have you held?
Paradise Helicopters is my first job away from MLH. My current plan is to stay with Paradise Helicopters.
