From the Alps to Aloha, Pierluigi's flight training journey took him from Italy to Hawaii and then back home to Italy.
Pierluigi, affectionately known as Luigi, was born and raised in the scenic beauty of Italy. With the majestic Alps as his backdrop, his childhood was filled with the mesmerizing sight of helicopters navigating the rugged terrain. It was during these formative years that Luigi realized his true calling-to become a pilot and take to the skies.
In June 2017, Luigi embarked on a life-changing journey to Hawaii, determined to turn his dreams into reality. Despite the challenge of English being his second language, he chose the Kona Delta Airspace for his training. The picturesque setting of Hawaii, with its stunning landscapes and perfect flying conditions, becomes Luigi's new home. It was here that he diligently worked towards fulfilling the requirements of the Professional Pilot Program.
Upon graduation, Luigi's passion and dedication paid off as he secured a position as a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI). This role allowed him to share his growing expertise with aspiring pilots, further honing his own skills and knowledge. Luigi's enthusiasm and commitment quickly made him a standout instructor.
Luigi's impressive progress didn't go unnoticed. After accumulating valuable experience and a CFI, he was offered an exciting opportunity to fly 91 tours in Kauai for Mauna Loa Helicopter Tours. His logbook rapidly filled with over 1,000 flight hours, a testament to his hard work and dedication.
With a wealth of experience under his belt, Luigi returned to Italy, where he now works in the south, flying AS350 helicopters of all series, His current role involves fighting fires and conducting power line patrols, vital tasks that demand both skill and precision. Reflecting on his journey, Luigi credits Mauna Loa Helicopters for providing him with the knowledge and skills that have been instrumental in his career. "Mauna Loa Helicopters gave me the knowledge and skills to do the work I am doing now," Luigi proudly shares.
