Rebecca (aka Ree) Eyer from Ohio was awarded a $5,000 Women’s in Aviation Scholarship from the Pinky and Joe Brier Foundation. A Private Pilot who is working towards her instrument rating heard about the scholarship opportunity from Mauna Loa Helicopters Student Liaison Paloma Paredes.
Ree opened up about her obstacles she is overcoming during her training, “Financing this dream has been my biggest challenge. I saved for 2 years to have the money for my PPL. Learning to fly is an expensive endeavor but will be worth it in the end.” You can almost feel her passion as she speaks about her goals, she hopes her training will take her “My plan is continuing my training all the way through my CFII certification. Once I build up my PIC hours, my goal is to fly for search and rescue and do wildland firefighting”
