Flight Instructor (CFI/CFII)

The CFI rating enables a pilot to teach other private, commercial and CFI students in the helicopter and in a classroom. An instrument instructor rating enables the pilot to teach instrument and CFII students both in the helicopter and in a classroom. A pilot’s first job flying will likely be as an instructor, which is why we include both in our Professional Pilot Program.

If you have previous flight experience, please contact us and we will include that while making up an estimate and plan for the training required.

Please Note
The following listed times are the minimums required per the FAA. Actual flight time accrued depends on Student’s progress and readiness for the actual flight test. Contact us with details for a fair quote including average ground time. We recommend our students to combine Commercial and CFI ratings for time efficiency if they are enrolled in the Professional Pilot Program.

Privileges

Armed with CFI and CFII is the best way to make the first step into the pilot career. The system has always relied on learning from each other to gain experience and to achieve the 500-1000 hour mark before venturing out into the unknown. Although employers are not necessarily looking for CFI-I applicants, the rating adds depth to a pilot’s skills and is attractive to potential employers. Also, many schools, including Mauna Loa, require this rating to be employed as an instructor.
