A Fully Accredited Institution
Accredited Flight School
In 2009, Mauna Loa Helicopters earned status as an accredited flight school by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC). Accreditation provides important benefits and safeguards for students. It means that Mauna Loa has proven to a professional accreditation agency that the school meets stringent academic and administrative standards.
The lengthy accreditation process is challenging and at the same time positive for the school as it encourages continuous efforts to achieve maximum educational effectiveness, provides an assurance of quality, and establishes eligibility for participation in federally funded programs including student financial aid.
“We are delighted to be an accredited flight school as it will ensure our students a high quality of education,” says Ben Fouts, President of Mauna Loa Helicopters. “We learned a great deal through the accreditation process and appreciate that this distinction makes us a stronger, better school.”
ACCSC, recognized by the United States Department of Education as an independent accrediting agency, has advanced quality education for more than 35 years. The practice of accreditation arose as a means of conducting non-governmental, peer evaluation of educational institutions. ACCSC’s accreditation process is a comprehensive review of all academic and ancillary activities and resources that support an institution’s educational objectives and the programs it offers.
By becoming an accredited flight school, Mauna Loa Helicopters accepts the obligation to demonstrate continual compliance with the Standards of Accreditation. Through documentation and on-site peer evaluations, Mauna Loa commits to following the standards and practices through which institutional quality is achieved. ACCSC accredited institutions must maintain compliance with ACCSC standards and implement necessary changes as revisions to the Standards of Accreditation occur.
Mauna Loa Helicopters’ accreditation is the end result of a multi-year effort on the part of the school to adopt ACCSC criteria reflecting the qualities of a sound training and education program. For more information about accreditation, log on to the ACCSC web site (www.accsc.org).
