Utility Pilot, Prism Helicopters
Alaska
Who are you flying for currently?
I am a Utility Pilot at Prism Helicopters in Alaska
What kind of helicopter(s) do you fly?
MD 500 and Astar
What do you find unique, challenging, or fulfilling about your job?

What I love about being with Prism is the utility sector which offers a variety of work. I also think it is just awesome to fly the 500 across Alaska.

Was there anything in particular that you learned at MLH that made you especially ready for a situation you have encountered since attending?

Absolutely- all kinds of airspace, winds, weather, offshore, mountains, etc.

What did you like best about MLH?

The people and the training environment- I felt more like family and friend than customer or employee and the island speaks for itself, being able to go to all the different islands for your training provides a unique and multifaceted environment.

Would you recommend Mauna Loa to others?

Absolutely, I’ve been to 2 different schools and MLH is absolutely the best in regard to training and social environments; plus it is in Hawaii!

Do you have any other comments or suggestions for those just beginning in the industry?

Student housing also made a huge difference as well- Hawaii can be an expensive place to live and having student housing available makes a big difference in living there.
