At Mauna Loa Helicopters, we take pride in shaping the next generation of skilled pilots, and Peter Howart’s journey is a testament to the quality of our training. Before even turning 21, Peter graduated from our Professional Pilot program, setting the stage for a successful and adventurous career in aviation.
As a small-town Alaskan kid, Peter came to us with big dreams of flying helicopters and experiencing all that Hawaii has to offer. What he found here was more than just a flight school—it was a supportive community that nurtured his ambition and equipped him with the skills he needed to excel.
Today, Peter is living his dream as a helicopter pilot for Firehawk Helicopters. He’s part of a high desert helitack crew, piloting an AS350 helicopter to fight wildfires in Wyoming. His work is both challenging and rewarding, and it all began with the comprehensive training and unique experiences he gained at our school.
Reflecting on his time with us, Peter shares, “Mauna Loa was a fantastic school and environment to learn in and provided me the tools and opportunity to succeed in my aviation career. The diversity of the flying environment in Hawaii combined with the sense of community and networking opportunities really provided the ideal experience to grow as a pilot.”
